Most outside hose connections today are designed not to freeze during cold weather. But only if the water hose is disconnected and the faucet is allowed to drain. Quick disconnect fittings (if used) should also be removed.

To test an outside faucet to see if it has frozen and burst, put your thumb over the outlet. If you cannot hold the pressure then the faucet is okay. If you can hold the pressure then the faucet is leaking inside.
