This consists of a septic tank and field line (leach field). The waste from your house goes into the tank (usually a 1000 gallon capacity). Solids are broken down by bacteria and the water enters the field line for dispersal. The septic tank should be pumped every 3-5 years. This keeps any solids not broken down from entering the field lines and clogging them.
